JACKSON – A townhouse in Jackson Township remains uninhabitable after an SUV crashed through a major support wall, causing an evacuation.
The Jackson Township Fire Department confirms the incident took place Saturday morning at 109 Joan Court.
The incident was first reported over the Facebook page from Shore Area News Dispatch.
Although the residents were displaced, no one was injured in the crash. Police continue to investigate the cause. They have not identified the homeowners nor have they said anything regarding the condition of the driver of the vehicle.
According to a Facebook post, the Ocean County Regional Urban Strike Team was requested to respond along with Brick Technical Rescue. Units from Brick were able to shore the structure and make it safe. Toms River units were on standby as a precaution.
Officials say temporary supports have been put in place to prevent a collapse but a full engineering assessment needs to be done to see the extreme of the damage and necessary repairs.
