STAFFORD – An 18-year-old man is hit with DWI and other charges after he crashed his car early Friday morning in a normally quiet residential neighborhood.
Stafford Township Police said Garret Clapper, a Manahawkin resident, was driving his 2003 Chevy Silverado north on Mermaid Drive when he lost control of the car, causing it to drive off the road, hit a curb and overturn. The accident happened in the area of Mermaid Drive and Steamer Avenue.
Clapper was not injured in the crash but police determined he was under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. He was released pending a future court date.
