Special Enforcement Unit Makes Multiple Drug Arrests

JACKSON – During the first month of the year, township police detectives assigned to the department’s newly formed Special Enforcement Unit have initiated multiple investigations which have resulted in several arrests. The investigations were based on information received by police from resident’s complaints.

Early morning on Jan. 23, detectives and members of the Ocean County SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a Dogwood Drive address at the conclusion of an investigation into reports of a 19-year old male involved with narcotics sales out of the residence and information that he was in possession of a firearm.

A search resulted in the seizure of marijuana edibles that the male reportedly had been preparing and selling. Also found was a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while in the course of committing or attempting to commit a violation of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.

The man was processed and later lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

An investigation into the distribution of heroin and crystal methamphetamine was concluded during the afternoon of Jan. 23, resulting in the arrest of a 29-year-old man and 51-year-old woman during a motor vehicle stop on West County Line Road.

Police also seized additional heroin and methamphetamine and those arrested were both charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The female was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Manalapan and the male was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department. Each were processed and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.  

Detectives received information in reference to a 56-year old male Jackson resident who was reported to be involved in narcotics sales and on Jan. 30, the investigation was concluded when the male was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

It was discovered that the Jackson resident was also wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Howell. He was processed and later released on summons pending a court appearance.

Another case was concluded by detectives on Feb. 4, that was conducted after information received of narcotics activity at the Willow Point apartment complex located on East Commodore Boulevard. 

A search warrant was executed as part of the investigation which resulted in the seizure of approximately a pound and a half of marijuana. A 22-year-old man was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute.

A female teen was also charged on a juvenile complaint with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released pending court appearances.
