POINT PLEASANT BOROUGH – A 74-year-old borough man has been arrested after investigators discovered child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.

James Vavra was charged following an investigation that began when the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The report indicated that someone had uploaded illegal images online.

Detectives with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad traced the activity to a Point Pleasant Borough residence. Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at the home on October 23, seizing several electronic devices that were later found to contain multiple images of child sexual abuse material.

Vavra was taken into custody and is being held in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Billhimer credited the Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Point Pleasant Borough Police Department, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, the New Jersey State Police ICAC Task Force, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their roles in the investigation.
