Brush Fire Contained In Manahawkin, Cause Under Probe

STAFFORD — A brush fire sparked near a marina was quickly brought under control with the help of multiple emergency agencies, authorities said.

Police said officers were dispatched around 3:46 p.m. on April 20 to the area of the Boatyard at 2200 East Bay Avenue following reports of a fire.

The blaze was contained without causing any injuries or damage to nearby structures, according to officials. No road closures were reported during the response.

Stafford Township Police Captain Russell Griffin tells Jersey Shore Online that the cause remains under investigation. Griffin confirmed that the New Jersey Forest Fire Service responded to the scene and assisted by dropping water from the air to help extinguish the flames.

Firefighters from the Stafford Township and Ship Bottom volunteer fire departments also assisted in bringing the situation under control.

Authorities thanked all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts.
