MCPO: Remains Are Human, Further Details Pending Autopsy

HOWELL – The skeletal remains found in Howell yesterday are human, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Wednesday morning.

“We are now confirming the remains found yesterday in Howell are indeed that of human remains. No further details pending an autopsy and examination today. We do not know the gender of the remains at this time,” Chris Swendeman, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said Wednesday.

The remains were discovered Tuesday by work crews surveying the area around the bridge at Ramtown-Greenville Road.

This section of roadway was closed during the investigation,

According to the Howell Township Police Department, the stretch of the road was already shut down after sustaining heavy damage during the Aug. 14 flood.
