HOWELL – Details remain few about skeletal remains discovered in Howell Township Tuesday.

Howell Township Police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office are at the bridge at Ramtown-Greenville Road after surveyors performing work found skeletal remains.

This section of roadway is closed as the investigation is ongoing.

Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Chris Swendeman tells Jersey Shore Online “the remains were found earlier this afternoon by a worker in the area.”

According to the Howell Township Police Department, the stretch of the road was already shut down after sustaining heavy damage during the August 14th flood.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
