MANCHESTER – A Manchester man suffered minor injuries after he was thrown to the ground by a car crashing into his shopping cart in the parking lot of ShopRite on Route 70.

Manchester Police said the incident happened Saturday, July 21 around 1 p.m.

Police Captain Todd Malland says 65-year-old Daniel Orpel was pushing his shopping cart through the lot when a Honda Civic, driven by 80-year-old Patricia O’Neill, struck the cart while she was attempting to make a wide left turn.

The impact knocked Orpel to the ground where he sustained non-life threatening injuries to his neck, back and hip. He was taken to Community Medical Center.

O’Neill wasn’t harmed but her car suffered minor front end damage.

Patrolman Anderson of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
