Jackson Man Accused Of Theft & Passing Bad Checks

LAKEHURST – A two week probe of bad checks being passed at a local business leads to the arrest of a Jackson man on theft charges.

Lakehurst Police said 36-year-old Travis A. Bryant attempted to cash four checks totaling $1,745.30 at Checks 2 Cash on Route 70 on multiple dates.

Police officers William Bowers, Robert Schroeck and Grant Hofferica had responded to a complaint call from the shop owner on August 10th. That’s when the investigation began. According to Police Chief Eric Higgins, the checks were not able to be funded by the drawee.

Bryant was arrested on August 25th and taken into custody without incident. He was processed and charged with 3rd degree Theft by Deception and 3rd degree writing bad checks.

Bryant was then taken to the Ocean County Jail and faces a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
