MANCHESTER – Township police are urging all drivers to avoid Route 547 between Ridgeway Road and Route 70 at this hour.
According to a Nixle alert issued around lunch time on Tuesday, the road had to be shut down for an emergency gas leak just outside the Lakehurst gate of the Joint Base.
Police have no timetable on when the road will re-open but traffic has been snarled in the area as a result.
According to police, anyone leaving the main gate of the Naval Base on 547 can only go north on 547 and 571 as the road is closed going towards Route 70.
