Car & Ambulance Collide In Lakehurst, Down Goes A Traffic Signal

LAKEHURST – A head-on collision between a car and an ambulance ends with a downed traffic signal and one person injured.

Lakehurst Police said the crash happened Saturday, August 25 at around 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 70 and 547.

A 1999 Toyota Corolla collided with a 2010 Ford E-350 ambulance from Quality Medical Transport. The impact forced the ambulance to leave the road, striking a pole and knocking down the traffic signal and pole on its side.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River via Lakehurst First Aid with minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the ambulance were unharmed.

The NJ State Department of Transportation was notified and are responding to the scene in order to repair the traffic signal.

The cause of the crash is being investigated and witnesses are urged to call police at 732-657-7811.
