One Injured By Shrapnel In Lakewood Shooting, Suspect Arrested

LAKEWOOD – A Jackson woman is injured after shots were fired on a Lakewood street Thursday night. A Jackson man is facing weapons possession and aggravated assault charges.

Lakewood Police said 20-year-old Christian Grimes allegedly fired a .40-caliber handgun into a concrete sidewalk near Martin Luther King Drive and Center Street around 9:45 p.m.

Captain Greg Staffordsmith said 19-year-old Yadae Marrow was hit by shrapnel and drove herself to Ocean Medical Center in Brick. She suffered minor injuries to her legs and was treated and released.

Grimes was arrested without incident in what police call a “negligent” shooting and was taken to the Ocean County Jail. According to police, the gun that Grimes had was stolen from its owner in South Carolina.
