Lakewood Murder Victim Identified

LAKEWOOD – The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday morning released the identity of a township man murdered June 21.

Authorities found Eric Galarza, 36, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a Lakewood residence Friday. He was taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where he pronounced dead.

The investigation into his death remains active.

An obituary published online by Dignity Memorial said Galarza “had attended Ocean County College where he played on their baseball team. Eric played semi pro football and softball with his notorious number 5 jersey for many years. He loved baseball and all kinds of sports and he coached his son’s football and baseball teams. Eric worked as a crew supervisor for Leisure Village East in Lakewood.”

He is survived his wife, three children, mother and father, and many other friends and relatives.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Manchester Little League.
