Additional Arrest Made In Hit & Run That Injured Point Boro Teen

POINT PLEASANT – Point Pleasant detectives arrested an additional suspect connected to the August 9 hit and run that critically injured a bicyclist, police reported.

Kyle Ramos, 28, of Seaside Heights was arrested on Oct. 17 and charged with 4th degree hindering apprehension of another. Ramos was released on a complaint summons.

The accident, which occurred on Aug. 9 near the area of Route 88 and Sunset Avenue, severely injured 14-year old Emma Mae, who suffered several lacerations and head trauma. She was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where she spent weeks recovering.

Police reported that Emma Mae was riding her bicycle across the road diagonally when struck by a vehicle traveling east on Route 88. The vehicle, driven by 26-year old Brittany Keifer of Point Pleasant, fled the scene.

Keifer was arrested on August 10 and charged with 4th degree assault by auto and 3rd degree leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury; she was also issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, for leaving the scene of accident involving injury and for failure to report an accident.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Keifer is expected to appear for Early Disposition Calendar before Judge Baxter on Oct. 31, 2018.

According to a Sept. 18 update by Jersey Shore Online, Emma Mae is home and recovering.
