BRICK – A two vehicle crash injured two people and closed a busy section of road for several hours. There is now a full investigation underway to determine the cause.

Brick Township Police said the accident happened Saturday morning a little after 10 a.m. Patrolman Jay Halley, Patrolman Robert Koch and Sargent Josh Jenssen responded to the scene on Brick Boulevard near Bay Harbor Plaza.

Sargent Neal Pedersen said 61-year-old Toni Mancini of Lakewood was behind the wheel of her 2012 Honda Civic heading south when she attempted to turn into the Bay Harbor Plaza.

It was at this point that she collided with a 2006 Dodge Durango driven by 18-year-old Keith Maceira of Toms River. Maceira had been heading north on Brick Boulevard at the time of the crash.

Mancini suffered head and leg injuries and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Maceira complained of wrist pain but refused medical treatment.

Traffic was detoured for almost three hours during the initial probe.

The investigation is now being conducted by both Pedersen and Patrolman Keith Donnelly of the Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit. The Ocean County Prosector’s Office is also involved in the probe.
