Water Main Break Shuts Down Major Road

UPDATE: 9 A.M. MONDAY – The water main has been repaired in Silverton. Hooper Ave northbound is scheduled to reopen approximately 1:00 PM. 

Update: 8/26: Toms River crews continue with repairs to a late Sunday night (8/25/19) water main break at Silver Bay Avenue and Hooper Avenue intersection. Because of this work, please note that Hooper Avenue Northbound from College Drive to Silver Bay will be closed and all vehicular traffic will be detoured through the college. Southbound lanes remain open. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

TOMS RIVER – Hooper Avenue north in the area of Silverton is shut down following a water main break, according to police.

SUEZ Water crews are on the scene in the area of Silver Bay Road. The police confirmed the incident at around 10:20 p.m. with a Nixle alert.

Police posted on their Facebook page that most residences east of Hooper Avenue are without water. 

They urge all residents to be patient while the water company makes the repairs.

The Silverton Volunteer Fire Department posted a video on their Facebook page showing water from the broken pipes pooling on the roadway.
