TOMS RIVER – A section of Hooper Avenue was shut down this afternoon due to a vehicle fire, officials said.
The fire took place at the intersection of Hooper and Spruce Street in the downtown section of Toms River at around 1 p.m. The engine compartment had caught fire but did not spread.
The fire was extinguished without incident, officials said. Hooper was temporarily shut down during the incident. Toms River police, and fire stations 25 and 26 responded and were all clear by 1:40 p.m. No injuries were reported.
