FREEHOLD – A Middlesex County woman is facing five years in prison for the theft of over $75,000 from an ophthalmology office where she worked, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Sheryl Ward, 35, of South Amboy pleaded guilty on May 20 to a charge of second degree theft for stealing the funds over a 17-month period.
Between August 2016 and January 2018, Ward processed more than $75,000 worth of fraudulent returns to her ophthalmologist employer. Ward admitted to creating falsified credit card returns that were directly deposited into her personal bank account. Ward worked in the contact lens department.
Ward is facing a recommended a sentence of 5 years in prison. She returns for sentencing on July 26, 2019.
