OCEAN COUNTY – The SUEZ company invests approximately $2.8 million on a safeguard reliable water service project.

The investment involves replacing about two miles of aging water main on two streets in Toms River and three streets within the Holiday City section of Berkeley beginning in late March. This is part of a program will help enhance water service and fire protection.

The project will consist of replacing six fire hydrants as well as adding two fire hydrants and renewing individual services for 300 customers.

“Ensuring that our communities continue to have reliable access to high quality water now and for many years ahead and certifying that our firefighters have the water pressure required to extinguish fires are essential components in revitalizing our infrastructure,” said Jim Mastrokalos, Director of Operations

The company will also upgrade the aging water main with new ductile iron pipes on the following streets:

            ● Bonaire Drive, Berkeley

            ● Grenada Street, Berkeley

            ● Harrington Drive, Berkeley

            ● Kim Lane, Toms River

            ● Tara Court, Toms River

“Because our crews work with an emphasis on safety, along with completing the work quickly, SUEZ will provide ample notification to residents as the project progresses and when to expect brief interruptions of water service during construction,” Mastrokalos added.

Completion of milling and paving will be finished by mid-summer and final restoration is expected to be completed in the fall.
