LAVALLETTE – A message on social media had a pretty shocking message: the Lavallette Police Department was taken over by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office after the arrest of one of its officers.

The prosecutor’s office replied that the statement is fiction.

“It is not true the Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the Lavallette Police Department,” said Bryan Huntenburg, the press officer for the prosecutor’s office.

The officer in question was issued a temporary restraining order against him by his ex-wife, he clarified.
