Sinkhole Shuts Down Toms River Road, Repairs Underway

TOMS RIVER – A large sinkhole is causing havoc with the commute in the township and it may close a busy stretch of road for more than a week, according to police.

Toms River Township Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina told Jersey Shore Online that the sinkhole opened up on Windsor Avenue on Monday, March 2 and as a result, there are detours in place.

“The Toms River MUA and Suez crews are working to repair it”, added Messina.

Windsor Avenue between League Road and Garfield Avenue will be closed round the clock until the repair is complete.

Messina said they are estimating 10 days, however that can change due to the nature of the job.

There were no injuries due to the sinkhole.
