TOMS RIVER – Tragedy on the Barnegat Bay after a watercraft accident near the Tunney Bridge left one man dead.

The New Jersey State Police confirmĀ 62-year-old Robert Kaminski of Morristown died at the scene.

Police say that two water scooters crashed into each other. The operator of the other scooter suffered minor injuries.

It happened Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m. Shortly after, authorities put out a Nixle alert advising residents and visitors to stay clear of the area during the police investigation and cleanup.

Details about what actually happened are sketchy. Jersey Shore Online has learned Kaminski suffered a medical emergency which appears to have contributed to the accident. A source tells us that the unidentified operator of the other scooter pulled Kaminski out of the water and performed CPR on the back of the watercraft with no success.

The New Jersey State Police State Marine Services Bureau, Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit all responded.

The investigation continues and the New Jersey State Police are leading the probe.
