Bicyclist Critically Injured In Ortley Beach Crash

TOMS RIVER – A Seaside Heights woman is seriously injured after being struck by a car on Route 35 and 1st Avenue in Ortley Beach.

Toms River Police confirm the incident at around 1:04 a.m on Saturday, July 28.

23-year-old Shabnamkhon Usmanova was traveling on her bicycle southbound on Route 35 when she was struck by a Mazda M3S driven by 32-year-old Timothy R. Kellers, Jr of Seaside Heights.

Toms River Police Spokesperson Jillian Messina said “Usmanova suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune where she remains in critical condition.”

Kellers was not Injured and didn’t appear to be impaired following the crash.

Kellers gave a blood sample at Community Medical Center in Toms River, according to Al Della Fave at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. 

The investigation is being handled by Toms River Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.
