LITTLE EGG HARBOR – Police and fire units responded to a house blaze in the township on Friday afternoon but only minor injuries were reported.

Police said the fire broke out at the home on the 300 block of Lake Champlain Drive and it was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The 34-year-old female resident was aided by neighbors before the emergency personnel arrived. She suffered smoke inhalation and was treated.

Police confirmed the fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department and several cats were rescued.

A firefighter was treated for a cat scratch on scene.

At this point, the cause of the blaze is unknown and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s office is handling the investigation.
