STAFFORD – Township police are investigating a phone scam that resulted in a theft of cash in the Ocean Acres section of the community.

The theft occurred between 5 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 24 at a Brigantine Road residence.

Police have reported that the suspect responded to the victim’s home on foot to collect the cash and was described as being a black male, age 20-30, and wearing a black jacket.

Authorities belive that the suspect parked his vehicle within close proximity, possibly on Topside Road, and walked to the victim’s home to prevent his vehicle from being identified.

Detective Stephen Fessler said “we are requesting citizens in the surrounding area to check for any suspicious activity that might have been captured on your ring device, home surveillance, or any other type of media that may contain useful information pertinent to this investigation.”

Fessler requested that if anyone notes any suspicious activity that might assist police in this case, to contact him at 609-597-1189 ext. 8447 or email that information to sfessler@staffordpolice.org.

“We are specifically looking for any video footage of any suspects and/or suspect vehicles during this time frame,” Fessler said.
