STAFFORD – Three Browns Mills women were charged after police said they stole more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Manahawkin supermarket.

Detectives from the Stafford Township Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting surveillance around 8:30 p.m. June 24 at ShopRite, 733 Route 72 West, when they saw three women leave the store, each pushing a cart filled with merchandise that had not been paid for, police said.

After a brief investigation at the scene, detectives determined the value of the items was more than $1,000, authorities said.

Shayna L. Lehmacher, 32, Breanne M. Lehmacher-Hunt, 36, and Aleah A. Lehmacher, 40, all of Cherokee Drive in Browns Mills, were arrested, police said.

Each was charged with third-degree shoplifting and third-degree shoplifting by concealing merchandise.

The three women were processed at Stafford Township Police Department headquarters and released on summonses pending future court appearances.

Stafford police said the department does not release arrest photos of defendants.

The charges are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
