LONG BEACH ISLAND – A documentary chronicling one of New York City’s most iconic Ukrainian eateries will be screened next month on Long Beach Island as part of a fundraising event to support humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine.

The Lighthouse International Film Society will present Veselka: The Rainbow on the Corner at the Center of the World on January 23, 2026, at the Long Beach Island Foundation, 120 Long Beach Blvd., in Loveladies.

The film tells the story of Veselka, a family-run restaurant in Manhattan’s East Village that has long served as a cultural hub for the Ukrainian-American community. The screening is intended to raise both awareness and financial support for Ukraine.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the film scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission includes pierogies and borscht provided by Surf City restaurant Wally’s, the event’s sponsor.

Tickets cost $15 when purchased online and $20 at the door. Advance reservations are strongly encouraged due to limited seating.

Organizers said 20% of ticket proceeds will be donated to Razom, a nonprofit organization providing aid to Ukraine. Additional donations may be made directly at razomforukraine.org.  More information and advance ticket sales are available at lighthousefilmsociety.eventive.org.
