Car Veers Off Road, Two Given Medical Attention

STAFFORD – Police reported that a driver lost control of her car and struck a parked vehicle.

Claire Gancarz, 81, of Manahawkin, was driving south on Nautilus Drive near Riptide Avenue, police said. Her 2016 Chevrolet Cruz left the roadway at a turn in the road and went up on the shoulder. There, it struck a car, a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, parked in front of 120 Nautilus Dr. The incident happened at approximately 3:39 p.m.

Gancarz and her passenger, Agatha Marchese, 81, of Manahawkin, were both wearing their seatbelts. The Stafford Township First Aid Squad responded, and gave medical treatment to both women as a precaution. They were then transported to the Southern Ocean Medical Center for further evaluation.

Drivers were redirected around the scene for about an hour, police said.
