POINT PLEASANT – Borough police charged a Whiting man for making terroristic threats over the phone.

Threatening messages were left on March 18 to the voicemail system of two Point Pleasant Borough district schools from an unknown male later identified as Shaun Giberson, 39, Manchester Township.

Giberson allegedly made reference to Columbine and the murder of students.  He was identified through an investigation by police as the person who made the calls.  He was staying at a local motel at the time the calls were made.

A search was made to his motel room. No weapons were located nor was any information developed that indicated Giberson possessed any. An arrest warrant was issued charging him with 2nd degree terroristic threats.

Currently, Giberson remains in a secure facility pending transport to the Ocean County Correctional Facility.

No buildings were evacuated as a result of the threat.
