TOMS RIVER — The Ocean County Board of Commissioners joined residents, local officials and members of the Jewish community on December 15 for the county’s annual menorah lighting outside the Ocean County Administration Building.

Deputy Director Frank Sadeghi said Hanukkah’s message still resonates today.

“Hanukkah is a season of miracles — a time that inspires hope and reminds us of our resilience,” Sadeghi said.

Commissioners Virginia E. Haines and Jennifier Bacchione attended the ceremony along with Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy, Commissioner-elect Sam Ellenbogen and numerous county staff members.

The program was led by Michael Waldner of the Toms River Jewish Community Council. Rabbi Moshe Gourarie of Chabad of Toms River lit two candles to mark the second night of Hanukkah.

Hanukkah runs from December 14 through December 22, a holiday traditionally observed with nightly menorah lightings and gatherings that celebrate faith, unity and the enduring power of light.
