POINT PLEASANT BEACH – A Point Pleasant Beach native who appeared on season six of the hit TV show American Idol has been arrested after allegedly trying to distribute heroin.

TMZ was first to report 31-year-old Antonella Barba’s arrest in Virginia last Thursday. She’s expected to appear in court on Monday in Norfolk where she was collared up by police on felony drug distribution charges.

Barba is no stranger to controversy. When she appeared on the FOX series in 2007, she took heat for posing in a provocative wet t-shirt near the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C.

She had been busted for shoplifting in 2011 in New York City.

The Jersey Shore native was in the final 16 of the sixth season of American Idol before being booted out by viewers.

According to police, Barba was arrested for selling or intending to sell 100 grams or more of heroin. She could face anywhere from five to 40 years in prison if convicted, that according to state law.

Jersey Shore Online tried to reach Barba’s Los Angeles based management team for a comment with no success.
