SEASIDE HEIGHTS – A Jackson woman has been arrested in connection with a December 2017 hit-and-run death in Lakewood.

Sandra Denise Brown, 46, of Jackson, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in a death. She was staying in Seaside Heights and arrested June 11. She’s being held in Ocean County Jail.

At 7:42 p.m. Christmas Day last year, pedestrian Roger Conover, 45, of Lakewood, was struck on Cedar Bridge Road just west of Martin Luther King Drive. He was transported to Monmouth Medical Southern Campus with severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Lakewood Police found Brown’s vehicle, a 1997 Nissan Maxima, on John Street, with damage to its front driver-side windshield and other physical evidence that pointed to a pedestrian strike. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation led to identifying Brown as the driver.

The Prosecutor’s Office had contacted Brown, asking her to turn herself in. She didn’t, and was arrested June 11 in Seaside Heights by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s Warrants Unit and the United States Marshal Service.
