3 Men Indicted For Shooting Into Home With Adult, Kids Inside

  TOMS RIVER – Three men were indicted on three charges of attempted murder each for firing guns into a home where an adult and two children were in danger.

  Lyjhahn Cromartie, 19, of Lakehurst; Shazir Vallade, 20, of Lakewood; and Javir Askew-Mayweather, 21, of Manchester; were each indicted on three counts of Attempted Murder, police said. Additionally, Vallade was also indicted on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a High Capacity Ammunition magazine.

  At about 2 a.m. on January 13, police were called to Justice Court in the Hope’s Crossing development on reports of shots fired. Officers learned that three men fired into a residence where an adult and two children were. Investigation led to the three suspects listed above.

  Askew-Mayweather was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Atlantic City. Cromartie was taken into custody without incident at his residence by the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team. Vallade was taken into custody at his job in Berkeley.

  Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer acknowledged the efforts of Assistant Prosecutor Victoria Esler who presented the case, and commended the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Toms River Police, Manchester Police, Lakehurst Police, Berkeley Police, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, Monmouth County Regional SWAT Team, Neptune Township Police Department, Atlantic City Police Department, and United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation.
