Woman Dies In Motor Vehicle Accident

NEPTUNE – A Neptune woman is dead after she was struck by a car as she was walking early this morning in the township.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said 59-year-old Sonia Naranjo was walking in the area of Highway 35 just north of Brockton Avenue around 12:02 a.m. Sunday, October 21.

Authorities said she was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 29-year-old Patrick Howe of Bradley Beach.

Howe remained with his vehicle at the scene while Naranjo succumbed to her injuries. Howe was unharmed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and Neptune Township Police Department.
