Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Distribution Charges In Lakehurst

LAKEHURST – A routine traffic stop turned into an arrest for a couple from Mays Landing who are now facing multiple drug distribution charges.

The couple – 28-year old driver Teddy Span and 44-year old passenger Donah Sanford – was pulled over by Officer Anthony Dipaolo of the Lakehurst Police Department on June 10 for Failure to Maintain Lane. Officer Dipaolo noticed their red 2014 Mitsubishi was struggling to maintain its lane while also traveling below the speed limit near Route 70 and Lilac Street.

Once the vehicle was pulled over, Officer Dipaolo observed Spann showing signs of being under the influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

A search of the vehicle found 9.7 grams of heroin, two baggies of cocaine, multiple bags of marijuana packaged for resale and multiple Percocet pills.

Spann and Sanford were then placed under arrest and transported to the Lakehurst Police Department for processing.

Spann has since been charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS (Percocet) and Being Under the Influence of CDS. He received summonses for Driving While Suspended and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.

Sanford was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana.

Both individuals were issued warrants for the charges and remain in the Ocean County Jail, pending a court appearance.
