LAKEHURST – A borough man remains behind bars after allegedly stealing a car from outside a local home.
Lakehurst Police said 29-year-old Michael D. Carr, Jr. was apprehended on Friday night, shortly after a call came in for a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
Lakehurst Police Officer Robert Schroeck said Carr became a suspect after they arrived at the scene. Officer Schroeck confirmed that the vehicle in question was entered as stolen into a national database.
It was the Trenton Police Department that located the vehicle with Carr driving it. They placed him under arrest and charged him with receiving stolen property.
Carr was sent to Lakehurst Police headquarters where he was processed and charged with theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.
Carr was issued a warrant for the charges and transported to the Ocean County Jail where he was lodged pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
