JACKSON – Jackson and Manchester townships police officers conducted a traffic enforcement detail along Route 571, which stretches through both municipalities.
The route is the site of many crashes. In 2018, police responded to 147 crashes on that roadway in Jackson alone.
On March 13, officers from both townships stopped 46 vehicles and issued 39 summonses. One person was arrested in Manchester on an outstanding warrant and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Troopers from the New Jersey State Police Commercial Carrier Unit were also inspected 12 trucks, finding many violations and taking several trucks out of service.
