JACKSON — Drivers should brace for major traffic delays and temporary road closures near South Cooks Bridge Road this weekend as a massive community festival takes over the area.

The Jackson Police Department issued a traffic advisory ahead of the highly anticipated “Fireworks and Food Trucks” event scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Authorities say a heavy influx of both vehicles and pedestrians is expected near South Cooks Bridge Road, Manhattan Street, and Kierych Memorial Drive.

Gridlock and disruptions are projected to begin around 3:00 p.m. and will last until the conclusion of the evening’s fireworks display.

Driver Advisory: Police are urging motorists to reduce their speed, stay alert for families walking to the event, and utilize alternate routes to avoid getting stuck in gridlock.

To handle the mass exodus after the fireworks, police will implement a strict traffic control plan:

Two-Lane Exit: All vehicles leaving the park will be funneled into two outbound lanes to expedite traffic flow.

Entry Freeze: No incoming vehicles will be permitted to enter the park until the outbound traffic has completely cleared.

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of everyone attending and traveling through the area,” the Jackson Police Department said in a statement.
