JACKSON — A man sought in the Thanksgiving Day stabbing of a woman at a township apartment complex was arrested after a police chase ended in a crash in Edison, authorities said.
Jaden Thompson, of Freehold, was taken into custody November 29 after Edison officers pursued his vehicle and he attempted to run from the scene on foot, Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz confirmed..
Officers captured him moments after the crash and turned him over to Jackson police.
The arrest capped a two-day search that began late Thanksgiving when Jackson officers were called to the Paragon Apartments around 11:36 p.m. They found a woman suffering severe stab wounds who identified Thompson as her attacker, police said.
Investigators quickly learned Thompson had fled in a black 2012 Nissan Altima with New Jersey plates SUV51A. A social media alert posted by Jackson police helped lead to his location in Edison about an hour later, officials said.
Thompson is charged with first-degree attempted murder, and additional counts are expected as the investigation continues, police said.
