JACKSON – Two people are dead after crashing into a utility pole around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, police reported.

Police are not releasing the names of the two crash victims, as family members are still being notified.

They are asking that any witnesses contact Police Officer Joseph Candido at 732-928-1111.

Numerous patrol officers, fire and EMS responded to the scene at Faraday and Houston avenues. They found a green 1999 Nissan Pathfinder that apparently was traveling south on Faraday crashed into a utility pole. It’s unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

“Despite all rescue efforts both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene,” Sgt. George Vidalis, of the Jackson Police Traffic Safety Unit, said.
