
JACKSON – An 80-year-old Jackson Township man was killed in a fiery head-on crash on Toms River Road, authorities said.
Emergency responders and officers from the Jackson Police Department, fire and first aid units were dispatched on February 6 at about 4:06 p.m. to County Road 571 near Aiden Lane after receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision. Callers told dispatchers that one vehicle was on fire and that a person might be trapped inside another vehicle.
Police said a black 2022 Toyota Sienna traveling northbound crossed the double yellow centerline for reasons that remain under investigation and collided head-on with a southbound Ford F-250.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Michael McDonald, was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional information on the driver of the Ford was immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Jackson Police Traffic Safety Unit. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Officer Thomas Parise at 732-928-1111.
