JACKSON — Firefighters from across Jackson Township were called out Tuesday evening to battle a large structure fire at a condo building under construction on Mantoloking Drive.
The fire was reported shortly after 7:15 p.m. on February 3 within The Club at Jackson development.
According to fire officials, crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions on one side of a three-story building that was still under construction.
The lack of fire hydrants in the developing neighborhood added to the challenge, officials said. Two propane tanks were also located nearby, prompting additional precautions as crews worked to contain the blaze.
Multiple fire companies from Jackson responded, with additional career firefighters recalled from surrounding districts to assist at the scene and to provide coverage elsewhere in town. Freehold Independent Fire Company and the Joint Base Fire Department were among the agencies that helped backfill apparatus while crews remained committed to the fire.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and crews remained on scene into the evening for overhaul and investigation. No injuries were immediately reported.
Jackson fire officials thanked outside agencies for their assistance in managing the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
