Two Teens Injured In Crash, One Critical

HOWELL – A 17-year-old remains in critical condition at a local trauma center after a serious motor vehicle accident in Howell Township.

Police said the teen was behind the wheel of a 2005 Dodge Dakota Pickup truck around 2:33 p.m. heading east on Hulses Corner Road toward Route 9 when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The 17-year-old teen passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The driver had to be extricated by members from Southard Fire Department, Freewood Acres Fire Department and Howell First Aid. 

He was also taken to Jersey Shore by Howell First Aid and MONOC Paramedics for significant injuries and remains in critical condition.

Police said both teens are from Howell and evidence at the scene showed the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Howell Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
