JERSEY SHORE — An 18-year-old Freehold Township man arrested in connection with a Thanksgiving night stabbing is also the suspect charged in an earlier Howell Township assault, authorities confirmed.

Jaden Thompson, 18, was taken into custody on November 29 after a police pursuit in Edison ended in a crash. According to Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz, Thompson attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured and turned over to Jackson officers.

His arrest followed a two-day search that began late Thanksgiving when Jackson police responded to the Paragon Apartments around 11:36 p.m. and found a woman suffering from severe stab wounds. The victim identified Thompson as her attacker, prompting investigators to issue an alert for a black 2012 Nissan Altima with New Jersey plates SUV51A. Edison police located the vehicle roughly an hour later, leading to the pursuit and arrest.

Thompson is charged with first-degree attempted murder, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues.

On December 2, Howell Township police confirmed Thompson is also the suspect in a November 17 assault on Pinewood Road. Detective Ryan Jackson identified Thompson as the individual responsible after reviewing multiple community-provided tips.

Howell police charged Thompson with third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault, filed on a complaint-summons.

Thompson remains at the Ocean County Jail
