LAKEWOOD – An overnight fire closed off portions of Route 88 this morning.

The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in an Ocean Avenue home, according to reports. Ten persons were displaced. The American Red Cross reportedly showed up on the scene to assist those residents with temporary shelter and clothing.

The road was closed between Madison and New Hampshire avenues as local fire departments fought the two-alarm blaze.

Authorities are still investigating.
