Ocean County Woman Charged In Stabbing Death Of Fiancé

BRICK – A township woman has turned herself in to police after a fatal stabbing over the weekend. Authorities said she got into a heated argument with her fiancé and stabbed him which led to his death.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Police Chief James Riccio said 27-year-old Ciara Williams of Brick has been charged with murder and weapons possession.

Police were called to Ocean Medical Center in Brick on Sunday, September 29 in regard to a male victim, with apparent stab wound in his chest.

35-year-old Dennis Power of Brick was dropped off at the hospital by a woman who fled before officers arrived.

Hospital staff responded to the vehicle and found Power, unconscious but breathing. They attempted to save his life but he died.

Police said the probe revealed that Williams had driven Power to the hospital. Authorities had searched the Brick Garden Apartment complex as the scene of the crime.

According to Billhimer, “We believe, through our investigation, that Williams stabbed Mr. Power in the chest during an argument at the residence.  She then drove him to the hospital and returned to the residence.”

Williams surrendered herself with her attorney present on Monday evening, September 30 at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Williams was then processed at Brick Township Police Headquarters.

She is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Prosecutor Billhimer and Chief Riccio would like to thank the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit for working expeditiously to investigate this incident and apprehend Williams.
