BRICK — A Hackensack man has pleaded guilty to eluding police in a high-speed chase that began with a series of traffic violations and ended with a foot pursuit, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Ally Golo, 41, entered the guilty plea before Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill in connection with an April 27, 2021 incident in Brick Township. Prosecutors said they will seek a five-year state prison sentence when Golo returns to court for sentencing on March 27.

According to investigators, Brick Township police officers spotted a blue Chevrolet Malibu driving erratically and nearly causing a crash before they attempted a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, Golo sped away, crossed into oncoming lanes, and attempted to turn onto Godfrey Lake Drive. He lost control and hit a guardrail but continued fleeing.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a parked car near the Maple Leaf condominiums. The pursuit continued to Sawmill Road, where Golo eventually stopped and ran from the vehicle. Officers chased him down and took him into custody.

Golo was taken to the Ocean County Jail but was later released under New Jersey’s bail reform guidelines.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer credited Assistant Prosecutor Emma Hurst and the Brick Township Police Department for their work on the case, which led to Golo’s arrest and guilty plea.
