Local Man Arrested For Convenience Store Robbery

BRICK – The suspect wanted in the January robbing of a local convenience store was arrested last week.

Luis Claudio, 35, of Howell, was arrested by Brick Township Police Det. Joseph Leskowski and Thomas Cooney April 5. Claudio is accused of robbing the 7-Eleven on Route 70 on Jan. 5. He was charged with five counts of robbery and multiple weapons offenses.

He is being held at Ocean County Jail.

He allegedly entered the store, grabbed a beverage, and at the check-out counter kept his right arm concealed, telling the clerk he had a gun. Claudio demanded money and grabbed some from the clerk’s hand while the register was opened. He allegedly then fled the area on foot.

Lakewood Police had arrested Claudio on an unrelated warrant out of Brick, which then led to the robbery arrest.
