BRICK – Brick emergency personnel will be hosting a Water Safety Class following the recent, tragic death of a local teen in a township lagoon.

Brick Police note that increased activity on the water due to summer activities can pose the risk of water-based injuries and accidents. In an effort to educate the public on how to avoid these accidents, a free, one-day Water Safety course will be offered on June 22.

The course will be hosted by Brick Police, EMS, Brick Recreation, and Ocean Rescue at Tilton Fitness, 1686 Rt. 88 in Brick, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The course will cover swimming safety, water rescue, CPR, and first aid.

According to Brick Police, the course is “also an opportunity for our residents who do not know how to swim a chance to get into the water in a safe and guarded environment.”
