JACKSON — A longtime community fundraiser will return with a renewed mission to support an 18-year-old high school senior facing a battle with brain cancer.

The 2026 Race for Life event will honor Dayton Frulio during a gathering at the Knights of Columbus Council 6201, 401 Bartley Road. The fundraiser is scheduled for February 15 with doors opening at 11 a.m.

Frulio, a Central Regional High School senior and standout athlete on the Golden Eagles football and baseball teams, underwent emergency surgery last year after doctors discovered a brain tumor. Instead of spending his senior year on the playing field, he now faces ongoing treatments, follow-up surgeries, and frequent medical appointments.

Known for his determination on the field and his ability to lift up those around him off the field, Dayton has approached his diagnosis with courage, positivity, and humor, according to family friends.

Organizers said the event, now in its 25th year, continues its tradition of assisting individuals and families confronting serious medical challenges. This year’s proceeds will help offset medical expenses, rehabilitation costs and other financial burdens associated with Dayton’s diagnosis.

Friends and family say the diagnosis has been devastating, but the community has rallied around him in an effort to provide both financial and emotional support.

The event will feature live coverage of the Daytona 500 on 11 screens, along with a gift auction, door prizes, food and beverages and a cash bar. Organizers also announced that the first 100 paying adults will receive a free T-shirt.

Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 to 17. Children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.

For additional information, organizers ask that the public contact Victor Salvi at 908-216-0744.

The Race for Life is held in memory of Chuck Washington and is organized by the Knights of Columbus Council 6201 Race for Life Committee.
